As we have mentioned in some of our previous blog posts the benefits of grass fed beef when compared to other types of beef are endless. In today’s blog post we are going to go through in detail why grass fed beef is better for us humans, for the cattle themselves, and even the environment.
For us humans the main reason that grass fed beef is better when compared to grain-fed beef is because it contains less fat. More specifically it contains more healthy fats which is better for the health of your heart. As well as containing more healthy fats grass fed beef is also a rich source of healthy acids such as Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA). This is important for you as a consumer because CLA is associated with reducing the risks of cancer and heart disease. As well as having all of the above health benefits in our humble opinion as well as our loyal customers it also tastes better!
For The Cattle
When it comes to the question of why grass fed beef is better for the cattle there are numerous reasons for this. Grass fed cattle are treated in a more humane way when compared to grain fed beef. As we mentioned in a previous blog post that compares grass fed beef vs grain fed beef in more detail, a grain fed diet causes the cattle to get sick and can lead to digestive issues and become more prone to bacterial contamination.
For The Environment
Not only is grass fed beef better for humans and the cattle themselves but it is also much better for the environment. A well managed grass fed beef ranch will minimize the erosion of that land, particularly when compared to grain fed beef which usually uses feedlots that use less land per animal. It can also be better for the environment because it doesn’t contaminate the local water supply. Unlike grain-fed cattle our grass fed cattle do not contain any antibiotics, this allows the local water supply to remain chemical free which is a lot more environmentally friendly.
As you can see from the above points grass fed beef is better not just for you the consumer but also for the cattle and the environment. The cattle are more humanely treated and are not prone to bacterial contamination, and the surrounding environment will not be eroded or contaminated with chemicals.
